Cotton this light behaves differently on a hot day. It sits away from the skin instead of clinging, dries fast after a walk to the metro, and creases in the soft way cotton does rather than holding a hard line. Hold it towards a window and the weave shows through at the shoulder, which tells you how thin it is.

The cut uses that lightness properly. A square neckline with a cut-out at the front, halter straps over the shoulders, and a strappy open back where the fabric reduces to a few crossing bands. Turquoise ground, white floral print drawn from Jaipuri pattern books. Cotton this fine also takes a print cleanly, which is why the white flowers read sharp at the edges instead of fuzzy. Sizes XS to 3XL, with the straps taking most of the weight.

Denim with silver hoops handles a casual outing. Flared pants and juttis when there is a function to attend. Because the back is open, tie your hair up or the detail goes to waste. Wash it on its own the first time, dry it in shade, and the turquoise stays where it should rather than bleeding into the print.
