Chikankari cotton is light in a way that most embroidered fabric is not. The eyelet and schiffli work is cut into the cloth rather than layered on top of it, so the surface stays porous and the top keeps breathing even when the embroidery runs all over. Pink here is a soft rose, and the needlework reads as texture from a distance and as pattern up close.

The cut is a corset-style halter. It ties behind the neck, opens at the back, and finishes with tassel ties, which is what gives the shape its structure without any boning or stiff lining. The front dips into a V. It is short, sitting at the waist rather than the hip, so it works as a kurti top over ethnic bottoms or as a western top over jeans. Sizes are XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL.
