Hip length and straight through the body, this short top stops just past the waist, so the hem never fights a belt or a high rise jean. It suits anyone who wants the ethnic detail sitting on top and something plain underneath. Sizes go from XS up to 3XL, written XXXL on some charts.

Rayon keeps the weight down. The white base has almost nothing to it and moves when you do, and the hand embroidered mandala motif sits square across the front panel, worked in bright orange, red, yellow and green thread. The same colours repeat on the embroidered cuffs of the 3/4 sleeves. A plain round neck finishes it, left undecorated on purpose so the front motif stays the thing people notice first.

College wear, casual wear, ethnic Friday at the office. It also holds up for a Navratri evening worn over a plain skirt or palazzo. Oxidised silver jhumkas, hair tied back, nothing heavier than that. Wash it cold and on its own for the first two rounds, since the coloured thread is bright and new. Stitched in Jaipur and packed in biodegradable material before it leaves us.
