Thread embroidery runs across the round-neck yoke of this purple kurti, worked into a narrow band that stops where the shoulder seam begins. Below it the body stays mostly open, printed only with small white motifs spaced wide enough to read as texture rather than pattern. Two techniques on one garment, neither one talking over the other.

The fabric is cotton, breathable and light enough for a full day in warm weather. The kurti falls to calf length with 3/4 sleeves and a relaxed line through the waist, so it still sits comfortably once you have eaten. Straight-fit pants and a light dupatta are included, which makes this a full kurti pant dupatta set and not a kurti sold on its own. Seven sizes are cut, from XS up through XL, XXL and 3XL.

Festive wear is the obvious use, Diwali lunches and cousins' functions and the long afternoons in between. The kurti worn alone over the same pants passes for office wear without any adjustment. Purple holds its depth through repeated washing better than most dyed cottons, so the second season looks much like the first. Stitched in Jaipur, sent out in biodegradable packaging.
