Hand-worked chikankari runs down the front placket and across the yoke of this kurti, then thins out towards the hem so the embroidery never argues with the straight line of the cut. A narrow band of the same white thread finishes each sleeve edge. The work is done by hand, which is why no two pieces match stitch for stitch. This is shadow work and small knots rather than the dense filling that stiffens a panel and makes it sit like board.

Cotton throughout, white, calf length, with a notch neckline and 3/4 sleeves, and a pair of matching straight-fit pants in the same box. Two pieces, one fabric, no lining to add weight. Sizes on offer: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and 3XL.

Good for office wear on a day that has a lunch attached to it, a temple visit, a dinner date, or festive wear in a month too hot for silk. Hand wash cold, dry in shade, and iron the kurti from the reverse to keep the raised stitches standing. Juttis suit it for a family lunch, closed shoes for the office. It leaves our Jaipur unit in biodegradable packaging.
